Don’t delay. A cheesy line in a salesperson’s pitch? Or a deeper meaning to get on and do the things we want to do and plan for the future we want to have?
I’m David, I’m a wealth manager, a financial planner, a… Well the title isn’t really important, it’s what I do in my life and that of my clients to help the financial aspects of life’s plans.
Perhaps I should pay more attention to not delaying my self. I registered the domain name http://www.dontdelay.co.uk in 1999 I think. It was my crude attempt at exploiting the Internet phenomenon of the time (at least in the UK anyway) of lastminute.com. Looking back the Internet was at its spotty teenager, phase of development, trying to prove its way in the world, but a little slow (remember dial up?) and only rarely interesting.
Along the way, as work, travelling, weddings and families took priority it’s sat there on the shelf, a likeable phrase dug and used as perhaps the odd password but nothing more It also became the name I used when trying out twitter, and unsure of how to change it kind of stuck. 1000s of tweets and 100s of followers later I have a mixture of fondness and embarrassment for the name, and still squirm awkwardly when saying it out loud.
